##### Title: Contractualist moral cognition: From fair divisions to the emergence of rules using agreement-based reasoning

###### How do our moral intuitions work? How do we make moral decisions? For contractualist theories, morality is about acting according to what rational agents in search of mutual benefit would agree to do. I will present experimental and computational evidence that viewing morality as a matter of agreement between rational agents can illuminate our understanding of moral cognition in two key contexts. The first part of the talk will focus on bargaining problems (what is fair?) and resource divisions. The second part of the talk will focus on coordination problems (who should do what?) and the emergence of rules.
