Work-Study

Students who are U.S. citizens or permanent residents and who show financial need are eligible for the College Work-Study Program. The employer pays 30% of the student's salary, and the federal government pays 70%.

There are strict rules governing Work-Study eligibility, and a fair amount of red tape involved. The program is a good one, though, and it is well worth going through the application process, cumbersome as it is. The student has to take the initiative, though: GSAS is not able to tell a student up front that s/he is eligible.

Students should apply for the program by mid-April for the following year, which begins July 1.
