Alex received her BA in Clinical Psychology from Tufts University in 2010. She then became a clinical research coordinator at Massachusetts General Hospital, working on a randomized clinical trial of Deep Brain Stimulation for treatment-resistant depression. Alex received her PhD from Harvard University in the Clinical Science track under the mentorship of Leah Somerville, PhD, and completed her clinical internship at the Boston VA in Jamaica Plain, rotating through the General Mental Health and Substance Abuse Residential Clinics. In her dissertation research, she studied how neurodevelopmental shifts during adolescence shape learning and motivational processes in the context of social evaluation. As a postdoctoral fellow in the Stress and Development Lab, she is interested in the clinical application of this work as it relates to trajectories of risk for depression by investigating dynamic changes in socioemotional processing and behavior. Just to up the nerd factor, Alex was a member of the a cappella group, the Tufts Amalgamates, and even got to sing the national anthem at Fenway Park.
