Gabriella Hamlett

Gabriella Hamlett is a PhD student in the Clinical Science program at Harvard University. She is a member of the McNally Laboratory and is advised by Dr. Richard McNally. Her research broadly focuses on identifying psychological, behavioral, and physiological risk factors and mechanisms associated with the onset and recurrence of psychopathology during pregnancy and the postpartum period, with particular emphasis on PTSD, anxiety, and OCD. Gabriella’s current work applies network analysis to examine how PTSD stemming from sexual violence may increase vulnerability to childbirth-related PTSD and other comorbid psychological conditions. She is also interested in leveraging ecological momentary assessment and real-time monitoring tools to inform an individualized precision medicine approach to perinatal mental health. Before joining the McNally Lab, Gabriella was a research coordinator at the University of Pennsylvania under the mentorship of Dr. Edna Foa studying the effect of estrogen on fear extinction processes among women with PTSD. She completed her MA at Teachers College, Columbia University in 2020 and her BS at the University of California, Davis in 2017.
