Marieke Meier

Marieke is a second year PhD student visiting from the University of Münster, Germany, who is working with Professor Richard McNally. She has been with Professor McNally’s lab for her Master thesis on symptom interaction between eating disorders and OCD from 2018 – 2019. After finishing her Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology and Experimental Psychopathology in 2020, she completed her clinical internship in an inpatient ward for clients with personality disorders, anxiety disorders, mood disorders, and eating disorders in Germany. She is now in her third year of training to become a licensed CBT psychotherapist in Germany.

Marieke’s research targets illness pathways in body image disorders. She is the study coordinator of a randomized controlled trial on CBT online treatment for body image disorders. At the McNally lab, she will look into illness pathways in eating disorders by means of network analysis.

When not in WJH, Marieke enjoys visiting art museums around Boston, browsing bookstores, making yogurt, and eating bagels.
