Ryan is a College Fellow with Prof. Jill Hooley and received his PhD in Social and Personality Psychology from the University of California - Berkeley. Ryan studies context effects, which describe how the situations that individuals find themselves in can influence the personalities that they express. He also studies the interactions between personality and emotion, and individual differences in emotion expression, experience, and recognition.
